Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the ESP Executive Committee and the Congress Organizing committee I cordially invite you to attend the 14th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology, which will be held in Geneva (Switzerland), September 1-6, 2011.

The Congress will be an important forum for dissemination of new knowledge in most photobiological fields, for scientific discussions and for planning of your future research. As in the previous Congresses of this series, we have tried to develop an exciting scientific programme. Thus, a number of scientists of international reputation will give lectures covering a wide range of highly relevant, timely and cutting edge photobiological topics. In addition to the plenary lectures, there will be invited lectures, oral communications and posters, organized within special symposia devoted to all major areas of research.

Geneva is centrally located in Europe and easily accessible by plane, train and car. Its international airport offers direct regular flights (including those from many low cost companies) to nearly one hundred destinations. Geneva is situated in unique scenery, between lake and mountains, and is probably a most international European city. The Congress centre is located close to the beautiful and lively old town, with many cultural attractions, excellent restaurants, shopping and sightseeing possibilities.

Special effort has been devoted to keep registration fees and other costs reasonably priced. Furthermore, participation of young researchers (PhD students and post-docs) will be encouraged and facilitated through an ambitious fellowship scheme.
Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors in advance. Full recognition of their contribution will be made at the meeting and in the Congress Programme booklet.

I look forward to seeing you in Geneva next September.

Miguel A. Miranda
ESP President
